Completing the acquisition of Travelers' Canadian P&C business

Delivering more for our customers

Definity Financial Corporation has completed the acquisition of the personal insurance business and the majority of the commercial insurance business (excluding the surety business) of the Canadian operations of The Travelers Companies, Inc. We’re the new home for Travelers Canada’s personal, business, and specialty insurance policyholders. It’s the beginning of an exciting journey to become Definity Insurance, part of our commitment to making insurance better.

Over time, our Economical customers will see a transition from our Economical branding to Definity Insurance as we introduce our refreshed look and enhanced experience.

Rest assured, we'll still be there for you when you need us most — at home, at work, and on the road.

Are you a current Travelers Canada home, auto, or non-surety business policyholder?

Insurance that works

We make one simple promise to our customers: We'll be there when you need us most. When the unexpected happens, you can count on Economical to take care of the details so you can get on with your life.

Proudly Canadian

For Canadians by Canadians, we’re a company that imagines bigger and better things, which inspires us to think innovatively, evolve, and adapt. Our passion and desire to make a difference is evident in everything we do.

By focusing on our customers first, we’ve become one of this country’s leading and most trusted property and casualty insurance companies.

And brokers that make all the difference

We partner with independent insurance brokers so you can make an informed decision based on unbiased advice. Brokers compare products and pricing across several insurance companies in Canada, and they take the time to understand what works for you, your family, and your budget.

Because their story is ours too

We've been doing this for a long time, and we take pride in getting our customers’ lives back to normal as quickly as possible. Here are some of their stories.
