Definity is the new home for current Travelers Canada personal, business, and specialty insurance customers.

Definity Financial Corporation is the parent company to some of Canada's most long-standing and innovative property and casualty insurance brands and companies, including Economical Insurance, Sonnet Insurance, Family Insurance Solutions, and Petline Insurance.

Economical Insurance is part of the Definity Financial Corporation family of brands, and one of Canada’s leading property and casualty insurers, with more than 150 years of experience protecting Canadians’ homes, vehicles, businesses, and farms with policies distributed exclusively through licensed broker partners. Over time, our Economical customers will see a transition from our Economical branding to Definity Insurance as we introduce our refreshed look and enhanced experience.

Travelers Canada’s surety business and new home warranties were not acquired by Definity so there is no impact to your policy. Continue to work with Travelers and your broker as you always have.

During the transition, you may receive documents or emails from Travelers, Economical, or Definity as systems and branding are updated. We appreciate your patience as we move through this transition.

No. Your current policy, deductibles, and premiums are valid and remain the same until your renewal date. You do not need to sign any new paperwork or make any changes.

Typically, no action is needed to continue your coverage if your renewal premium is paid on time. In certain situations, your broker may reach out to discuss renewal details.

Your policy transitions to Economical / Definity at your renewal date. Until then, your existing policy remains in place.

Your coverage will be similar in scope. However, there may be some differences in terms, limits, or endorsements. These are outlined in your renewal documents, and your broker can review them with you.

Any changes to limits or deductibles will be clearly outlined in your renewal documents. Contact your broker if you have any questions.

Your broker is best positioned to explain your renewal, review coverage details, and answer any questions about the transition.

Your premium is not changing as a result of the transition itself. Any changes at renewal are based on your coverage, risk details, and standard underwriting factors.

Your policy number may change at renewal. Any new number will be clearly shown in your renewal documents.

Yes. Your information continues to be protected in accordance with Canadian privacy laws and industry standards.

Your information is used only to administer your policy and claims and is handled in line with privacy requirements.

No. Your broker will remain the same. Continue to count on their knowledge and expertise if you have questions about your policy or coverage needs.

On existing Travelers policies, continue to make premium payments in the same way you do now.

Before renewal, claims should still be reported through 1-800-661-5522.

Claims for incidents happening on or after your renewal date should be reported to Definity/Economical using the contact details in your renewal documents.

An adjuster from Definity Insurance Company will be assigned to your claim, and correspondence about your claim will come from Definity.

If you have any questions, we recommend you contact your broker first. If you require further assistance,  continue to contact customer service at 1-800-268-4543 or email CustomerServiceCDN@travelers.com
